Coalition to Go After $15 Minimum Wage for MA

On Tuesday, November 29, Raise Up Massachusetts - a coalition of advocacy groups, religious leaders and labor unions - announced the beginning of a campaign for a $15 minimum wage and raising the lower pay level for tipped workers. The last minimum wage increase was in 2014 when the legislature passed a law gradually raising it from $8 to $11 in January of 2017. Raise Up was also the driving force behind the passage of a 2014 ballot initiative guaranteeing earned sick time for all residents and pushing for a 2018 ballot initiative to amend the state constitution to impose a higher tax rate on income over $1 million.
