Ready to Strike?

Wednesday, March 8, is International Women's Day, and around the globe, women are planning a massive Day of Action to demand gender equity! In the US, organizers have called for a "Day Without A Woman" -- a general strike to "recognize the enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to our socio-economic system -- while receiving lower wages and experiencing greater inequities, vulnerability to discrimination, sexual harassment, and job insecurity."

On Wednesday, women in Massachusetts will take the day off work or work 82% of the day (in recognition of the 82 cents women make for every dollar a man does for the same work). While many women are expected to strike, not everyone can, so there are plenty of other ways to get involved, even if you can't miss a day of work:

As journalist Ruth Graham writes, this day of action has the potential to bring International Women's day "back to it's radical American roots!" Let's make it happen here in Massachusetts!
