Coalition for Birthing Access: Why Mass JwJ

Massachusetts Jobs with Justice believes that there are no singular issues, and that our grassroots coalition campaigns thrive when they acknowledge the intersectionality* of their struggle. A perfect example is Mass JwJ’s recent effort to demand accountability from Holyoke Medical Center’s CEO and Board of Directors on the proposed closure of the Holyoke Birthing Center. We combined forces with the Massachusetts Nurses Association, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, midwives, Black and Brown people who have gone through childbirth, elected officials, caregivers and community members to form the Coalition for Birthing Access because we know all these voices bring important knowledge to the table.

Mass JwJ works at the intersection of worker justice, racial justice, immigrant justice, economic justice, and education justice, and we can do this work in Holyoke and across the state thanks to your support. Please allow us to continue this important work by donating today! Support us at bit.ly/WhyMassJobswithJustice

*Intersectionality is a framework created by Black feminist scholar Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw.
