Action Alert: Licensias para Todos! Driving Families Forward!

The Work and Family Mobility Act was voted favorably out of the Joint Committee on Transportation on Thursday, February 6th, 2020. This bill would enable all qualified state residents to apply for a standard Massachusetts driver's license, regardless of immigration status. Share our Facebook post with your friends and families to spread the news!

Massachusetts should be the next state to allow driver's licenses for all. It would join 15 other states, most recently New York and New Jersey, plus the District of Columbia that have passed similar legislation. Our immigrant neighbors need the freedom of mobility to work, to take care of their families, and to live their lives.

This victory couldn’t have been accomplished without the work of all our volunteers! We thank you for all the fantastic work you have done. Thank you to Ben, Sarah, and Zayda who host and our volunteers who participate in biweekly phone banks. Legislators don’t get a lot of constituent voicemails, so every single call they get makes them sit up and pay attention. During the last five weeks of phonebanking, we have gotten sixty-five people to leave voicemails! This work is especially vital because after the hearing for this bill on September 5th, our opponents have been calling their legislators. We need to keep up the momentum to ensure that legislators hear from us that they need to pass this bill. Read more about our advocacy in this blog post by Ben and donate here so that we can buy pizza to thank our volunteers for their hard work during the phonebanks!

The work, of course, continues but for right now, we celebrate all the amazing work that we've been able to accomplish together and ask you to spend five minutes today to take action and call Speaker DeLeo's office to ask the Speaker to bring this bill to the floor!
