On Wednesday March 11th, Hugo Sanchez Serrano was issued a final order of removal by an Immigration Judge seated at the Boston Immigration Court. Hugo has lived in the United States for over 10 years and has 5 U.S born children. His youngest son is a student at the Waltham public schools and together, with his mother, Elvia, are in risk of losing Hugo. Hugo fled his native El Salvador to escape persecution and now he will be returned to the country where he faces imminent harm. Hugo has no criminal record, pays his taxes, and contributes to his community, church, children’s school and workplace. Hugo and his wife are gainfully employed at restaurants in Waltham. He is currently battling this final order of removal.
In addition to the tragic news she received regarding her husband’s immigration case, Elvia was also informed by her employers that the restaurant where works will be closing for the next 6 weeks. Without her husband’s financial support and the income from her restaurant job, Elvia and her son are left without the means to pay for rent, groceries, utilities, and other daily expenses. We are asking you to support Elvia and her son with any financial or food contributions. If you live in the Belmont area, you can drop off any provisions at this address: 80 Jennings Road, 02451, Waltham.
