Hometown Heroes: Nelly Medina, parent organizer for education justice

Nelly Medina is on a mission — “save the beach, feed the people and equal education,” she says. She’s doing that and more, as an advocate for children and numerous other groups, through her work with Citizens for Juvenile Justice, the Worcester Education Justice Alliance and the Parents Union of Massachusetts.

“If you’re an activist and you have this goal in your heart, you get led,” Medina said. “You let yourself get led.”
